It was hard to choose because we recieved over 300 submissions. But we narrowed it down and picked this really great illustration by Christopher Kennedy. You can check out some of his other work HERE.

We are sending Christopher $150, Bazan and Deerhoof shirts, Bazan Lifetime Pass and other goodies.

Thanks to everyone who sent in their ideas. We really appreciate everyone being so supportive. We hope to do more projects like this in the future.

And thanks to Deerhoof for being so awesome to work with.

Side A is Bazan’s collaboration with Deerhoof on their song “No One Asked To Dance” that we’ve renamed “No One Asked Bazan To Dance.”

Side B is a live recording of the Headphones song “Gas and Matches” recorded at Ante Up Studios in Cleveland OH during a Bazan Band tour last February.

The 7″ will be released on January 17 by the nice folks over at Polyvinyl Records. It’s limited to 2000 copies on translucent blue vinyl.

You can PRE-ORDER it now direct from Polyvinyl and get an instant download of both tracks.

Pre-orders will ship on or around January 10th.

Centro-matic will be playing shows in Dallas and Houston the first weekend of December. Spooky Folk will be opening both shows.

Rocky’s new album will be out in early 2012. For the first time his his career, he’s releasing an album without the funding and assistance of a record label. Rocky is reaching out directly to his fans to help fund the project through Kickstarter. Fans can contribute at different pledge levels and get limited edition and one-of-a-kind stuff in return. It’s been wildly successful so far… over $23,000 raised in less than a week. Every dollar raised goes directly into the making and promotion of the album. There’s 22 days left to make a pledge. Please consider supporting Rocky and his music.

Stagnant Pools are a two-piece band from Bloomington, Indiana comprised of brothers Bryan and Doug Enas. Bryan is 22 and plays guitar and sings. Doug is 20 and plays the drum set. Their first full-length album, Temporary Room, will be released in 2012.

The Rockets re-imagine and re-tool 13 songs from their vaunted catalog, including songs from albums long out of print. Look for it in the summer.

Here’s the skinny from the band:

“Although it may not be obvious, most Bottle Rockets songs are written on acoustic guitar. Contrary to being identified as a loud rock band, we enjoy the opportunities to perform without amplifiers and electricity. Songwriting is distinctly showcased under those stripped down conditions and requires the songs to sink or swim on their own. And on such occasions, we are always amused by the tangle of cords, plugs, and wires that are still involved with supposedly ‘unplugged’ music.

Choosing the right venue is important to the success of any show, and the Lucas School House in St. Louis was our correct choice for two sold out shows. Located on the edge of the historic Soulard neighborhood, the venue was formerly a one-room school built in 1898. The small, second floor gymnasium had been renovated into a concert hall with a beautiful wooden interior, stained glass, plush leather seating and state-of-the-art sound system. Serving as an ideal listening room during its short life, any performance in that space was an intimate music experience.

Recordings from those shows provide the material for this live album and the songs selected here include a mix of favorites, rarities, reinventions, and performances in-the-moment. Although the Lucas School House has since closed, this album preserves the essence of those two special nights.”
