While Dylan has an extremely broad background in the music industry - Badman Recording Co. founder, major label sales & marketing experience, studio owner, and music business lecturer - his true love is producing and mixing records. And for good reason, because with credits ranging from Mark Kozelek (Sun Kil Moon / Red House Painters) and Low to Call and Response and The Mother Hips, he approaches each project from this seasoned perspective.
In speaking of producing and the process of recording, Magierek states, "My goal is to have a band or artist leave with an album that is beyond their expectations. Getting energy and the live, original feel of the songs onto tape is essential. I'm a big believer in spending time pre-producing the band and bouncing ideas off each other before we get into the studio. This can get everyone on the same wavelength (and help shave time off the clock in the studio) and assist us in going in with a roadmap of what we want to accomplish. In the end it's all about the songs and sound."

Dylan is a studio partner at Type Foundry, located in Portland, OR. Recent upgrades to Type Foundry include a Trident board, Neve, Api and Telefunken vintage gear, as well as a new mid-sized room to add more diversity to the 3,000 sq ft. facility. It's easy to see why groups like The Decemberists, The Gossip and M.Ward have recorded their albums there!
Dylan Magierek just finished co-producing and recording an upcoming album by the California rock band, The Mother Hips. This is their first full length album in 6 years, and is due to be released in early 2007. He also recently recorded and produced Comets on Fire's (Sub Pop) Utrillo Kushner's solo project, Colossal Yes, at San Francisco's Closer Recording.
